Lip Extraction Duct Design

    Corrotech designs the most proven and effective localized extraction principle that is widely applied in fume extraction systems. Fumes emitted from the open surface of the zinc bath are extracted through the extraction plenums mounted on one side of the galvanizing to ensure that the zinc fumes do not escape to atmosphere.

    Corrotech critically designs the suction duct at a predetermined minimum velocity rates that have to be applied to ensure effectiveness. The suction slot ducts are manufactured using steel sheets coated with chemical corrosion resistant paint using well equipped mechanical workshop fitted with the appropriate fabrication equipment.

Zinc Fume Enclosures

  • Corrotech Zinc Fume Enclosure is fabricated using good quality heavy metal sheet that is mounted on the casing of the galvanizing furnace. During the fabrication of the casings, the connected base plates are welded over the top of the casing on which the fume enclosure can be welded directly. The fume enclosure designed for its easy removal during the replacement of kettle in the future.

    The enclosure hood is fitted with side doors with windows that are electrically operated using hoists for its vertical movement. The entry and exit of the loaded rack is through the end doors of the enclosure. The entry side end door is operated with pneumatic cylinders located at the top of the roof of the enclosure. The operator can open & close the door using push button station located at a sufficient distance from the floor.

    The fume enclosure box is provided with lights mounted on the roof of the enclosure. The viewing windows have toughened glass fixed over a steel frame that is hinged with the enclosure. For safety, the side windows movement can be stopped using a grab wire installed over the length of the kettle. In case of any obstruction while lowering of the side windows, the grab wire shall disconnect the power to avoid any possible accident or collision.

    The extraction duct is provided at the roof on one of sides of the fume enclosure that joins with the fixed duct connecting to the cyclone and scrubber.
    The vertical movement of the side doors is operated with hoists and controlled using rotary limit switches. The roof is equipped with sodium vapor lamps for visibility of kettle during dipping operation.

    Corrotech Flux Cleaning System minimizes the transfer of iron from the flux bath to the molten zinc. This greatly reduces zinc consumption, since 1 part of iron, which dissolves into the zinc bath reacts with 25 parts of zinc, to form Dross. The process in the flux system has the added advantage of damping the reaction between iron and zinc which ensures low iron transfer from the work piece to the molten zinc.

    Corrotech recycling and regenerating fluxing plant is designed to keep the iron content in the fluxing solution under close control and at the same time the value of the pH of the solution. The iron concentration is maintained at a continuous level of less than 5g per litre of flux solution.

    The fluxing solution is kept in a closed circuit recycling unit where adding hydrogen peroxide and ammonia, the iron is separated as sludge. The fluxing tank solution is cleared through a sequence of oxidizing tank, neutralizing tank, sludge settling tank and filter press after which the clear flux is sent back to the fluxing tank.

    Corrotech hot air dryer is integrated with the galvanizing furnace designed to pre-heat the structural steel by re-circulating the exhaust flue gases generated out of the furnace. The hot air is used for complete drying and preheating of the steel to be hot dipped, to allow faster reaction and in the molten zinc thereby reducing fuel consumption and loss of zinc due to spurting.

    There are many factors that differentiate our design and manufacture of a quality industrial hot air oven from a poor quality or low end system including:

    • proper airflow
    • use of properly temperature rated components,
    • proper sizing of air recirculation (to get a reasonable air velocity and number of air changes per minute) and burner components,
    • a powered exhaust system,
    • use of dryer material and for energy efficiency and longevity,
    • oven workmanship and complete solution, and
    • detailed operation and maintenance manual documentation with preventative maintenance recommendations to name a few.

    The efficient drying and preheating is achieved by the huge air volume recycled within the drying chamber using a large centrifugal blower, so that the huge hot air flow blows over the items uniformly, and provides a quick and efficient drying without using very high temperatures. The necessary hot air is produced by re-circulating the exhaust flue gases generated out of the furnace.

    The oven is operated with a single or two door system equipped with a motorized cranage moving over the rail mounted on the periphery of the oven wall.

    High temperature galvanizing is used for galvanizing small components such as fasteners, threaded bolts, nails and brackets. High temperature galvanizing gives uniform and controllable coatings, also to silicon and aluminum killed steels..

    The ceramic tank is made of special refractory and insulating bricks and is assembled on site. The molten zinc does not form a chemical composition with refractory materials, as it does by formation of zinc ferrite with iron in a steel kettle, prevents the inconvenience and high cost of kettle changes. Its major advantage over a steel tank is that it is not attacked by the liquid zinc (at 460 – 500°C), giving a theoretically infinite lifetime.

    The long life of ceramic lined galvanizing baths of Corrotech design, proves that any possibilities of zinc leakage or zinc penetration through the refractory lining due to thermal expansions and high hydraulic pressure, has been eliminated, even at high temperature galvanizing.
