Anodizing is the process of growing an aluminum oxide on the surface of aluminum. Anodizing uses the base metal – the aluminum alloy – to create a thin, extremely strong and corrosion-resistant finish. The anodized surface is very hard and thus preserves and extends the life of the aluminum product. The process is performed by immersing the aluminum in to an acid electrolyte bath and passing an electric current through the medium. A cathode is mounted to the inside of the anodizing tank; the aluminum acts as an anode, so that oxygen ions are released from the electrolyte to combine with the aluminum atoms at the surface of the part being anodized.
Anodizing creates a surface coating two-third in the metal and one-third above the surface effectively protecting the aluminum from further corrosion or oxidation. Corrotech anodizing plants are designed for high capacity anodizing. The plants are delivered as a turnkey project with the use of latest technology. Corrotech provides complete range of specialized equipment for acid baths and the electrolysis processes with both pre and post treatment processes included. The tanks are fabricated from stress-relieved poly-propylene using “Butt Fusion-Welding” hot forming equipment to eliminate vertical welded tank seams. External reinforcements are added as required for strength.
